Teach me how to Jimmer

I knew it was coming and to be honest, I couldn't wait. In today's YouTube culture, one can't have a pop culture phenomenon without accompanying it with a hastily made rap video. And there is no pop culture phenomenon (with the possible exception of Mumford and Sons, who produced the most star-making Grammy performance in recent memory) that has taken off more rapidly that that of the Jimmer. Who would have ever imagined that the biggest name in college basketball and the second biggest name in college sports (behind Cam Newton) would be a guard from, of all places, BYU?

But it has happened. The Jimmer Fredette show is now the nation's show, with people as diverse as Kevin Durant and Nelly tweeting out that Jimmer games are mandatory viewing. So those of us who have long been pro-Jimmer, must now embrace the phenomenon to its fullest extent. It's not enough that I have watched every BYU game that has come on my television. It's not enough that I received a BYU hoodie as a Valentine's Day gift from my girlfriend. And it isn't enough that the last time I played pickup basketball, I accompanied my one three pointer from deep by leaving my hand up in the air and saying, "Jimmer!"

No, I also must get behind the rap video that will follow Jimmer everywhere he goes during March Madness.  It is "Teach Me How to Jimmer" and honestly, I kind of like it:

Teach me how to Jimmer

I think he is great for the college game.  the funny thing about the highlight film is with the exception of the drill in the gym, EVERY highlight of him shooting a jumpshot has him moving to the right.  there are a couple that he stops moving right and and goes straight up but everytime he makes a move to the right.

Teach me how to Jimmer

My fiance got me a custom screenprinted t-shirt for Valentine's that had a picture of His Jimmerness on it with "The Jimmer" underneath it. They certainly know the way to the heart don't they?
