Texas junior center Alexis Wangmene has been suspended indefinitely due to a violation of team rules, head coach Rick Barnes announced before the team’s game against Iowa State on Tuesday.

Barnes would not expand on the statement or specify the infraction, only saying Wangmene would not play tonight.

Wangmene was averaging 2.4 points and 2.4 rebounds this season, coming off the bench to provide depth behind Tristan Thompson and Gary Johnson.

The Longhorns did not miss him against Iowa State on Tuesday, beating the Cyclones, 76-53. Matt Hill, who will see increased minutes in Wangmene’s absence, had six points and five rebounds.

He got a DUI the other night. That's why he was suspended. Gunna be out a few games.

By the way, I'm just curious, is a DUI that thing that screws you for life?

Texas' Wangmene suspended indefinitely

Mainly because of Texas' lack of size.

Size is actually one of their strong points this season. Matt Hill's increased minutes will be a good thing, Wangmene isn't a big loss.
