It seemed simple for Wally Judge. Maryland or Rutgers. Gary Williams or Mike Rice.

Of course, Williams then announced his retirement, and everything changed for the former Kansas State transfer. At the time, a source close to Judge said the Washington D.C. native would likely wait and see before deciding on his next destination.

With Texas A&M’s Mark Turgeon accepting the Terrapins’ head coaching position on Monday night, the wait is apparently over.

Judge has picked Rutgers over Maryland, multiple sources told CBSSports.com.

A key aspect in Judge's decision was likely Rutgers associate head coach Dave Cox. Cox has ties in the D.C. area and even coached in the DC Assault AAU program, which was Judge's travel team in high school. Judge was a McDonald's All-American at Arlington Country Day (Fla.).

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds last season for Kansas State before leaving the team in late January. Judge will sit out next season per NCAA transfer rules, and will have two years of eligibility remaining with the Scarlet Knights.

Cuse, here is something for you to consider

Judge is DC Assault, aka Curtis Malone. Curtis is one of the slimiest AAU coaches around - always has his hand out. Judge was never comiong to Md, Gary Williams or not

Just saw they have 8 guys coming in, pretty impressive. I know Kadeem Jack will be a good ball player and I dont know much about the others. While a big recruiting class is nice it doesnt automatically equate to a good class.

By loading up on talent you cant be including Judge.  Has never played up to the hype.  Wish him well be dont think he is meant to be anything more than an AAU phenom.

While Wally may be overrated this shows you the state of the Maryland Basketball program. They landed Mark Turgeon who was what, there 5th or 6th option?? Wally is a DC native and transferred out to seemingly return home but that isn't the case. Maryland is a mess right now and won't be a factore in the ACC for a few year minimum.
