Louisville freshman Wayne Blackshear will miss the entire season with a shoulder injury.
Blackshear has a torn labrum, according to coach Rick Pitino.
It will require surgery.
Blackshear is a McDonald's All-American whom CBSSports.com ranked No. 24 in the Class of 2011. He was battling academic questions until last week, but he was ultimately cleared by the NCAA. The 6-foot-5 wing figured to play a prominent role for the Cardinals, and he still will ... but not until the 2012-13 season.

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryThat really sucks for that kid! Trust me, as a Colts fan, I see first hand how injuries can change an entire season for a team. Hope he recovers well and is able to contribute next year!

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryI LOVE it!! Of course, if the same thing were to happen to one of "Kensucky's" players, the Loserville faithful would be ALL OVER it.Probably not. I've never, in my life, heard a Louisville fan gloat over an injury of a rival. I have heard several UK fans brag about breaking Michael Bush's leg in 2006. Now here you are (like always) acting like a classless moron because an 19 year old kid hurt himself. Real classy, man, real classy. You do realize you contribute to the reason why people hate Kentuky, right? I don't mean the school, I mean the state. Your childish trash talking make us all look bad. I hope you're proud. I pray your wife has her head on straight, because if not, your kids are screwed. |

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryPersonally I guess I'm odd as far as UK fans go,but I would like to see UofL step it up. North Carolina holds the distinction of best basketball state in this union. In my opinion I wish they(UofL) would join the SEC! But I know that will never happen. The state of Kentucky would be well served if both programs were at the highest level in the same conference. |

Personally, I don't wish the kid any harm, and never would, but all I have heard from Louisville fans is that this kid is the next greatest thing that would even the playing field with Kentucky. Oh well..... And I guess Louisville fans are used to their team dealing with adversity....cheating coach, players getting into scuffles with police, assaulting their girl friend....... |

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryuksmithfan-
I've seen plenty of lowlifes on these boards but never one that gloated when a rival's team sustained an injury to one of their players. You have achieved an all time low, even for a UK fan. How pathetic... |

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryAwwwww......what a complete shame. I was looking forward to Kentucky beating Loserville by 20 WITH Blackshear.....guess Kentucky wins by 30 now. At least Faried has graduated, which means Loserville will again be the second best team in the state.Well unlike Kensucky (get it, KenSUCKy, because I have the wit of a 10 year old too), when Louisville loses a player, we can't just go out and BUY another one. It's cool though. Louisville has always responded well to adversity. |

UL's Blackshear out for year with shoulder injuryOnce again we can not put a full, healthy squad on the floor without having some ridiculous injury (Blackshear) or grades (Ware) to someone that was going to be a key component for the team. We can't win from losing, and it's really getting to be annoying and frustrating at the same time. Hopefully we can get Ware for the Spring Semester, get Buckles, VanTreese, Russ Smith healthy, and Swopshire's confidence back to contribute, then we can do something, but having Blackshear to me is the difference of this team being a Sweet 16 team and team that is a darkhouse to making it to the championship.
