Syracuse Chancellor vocalizes support for Boeheim

Syracuse Chancellor Nancy Cantor has been thorough, direct, abrupt and unafraid to address the Bernie Fine case at Syracuse since it first broke nearly two weeks ago.

Now Cantor has put her support of Orange coach Jim Boeheim out to the public, albeit briefly and not with undeniable definition. She did so Tuesday afternoon. From the AP:

"Cantor emerged from an economic development conference with state officials and said: 'He is our coach.' Some commentators and sex abuse victims' advocates have said Boeheim should resign in the wake of allegations that Bernie Fine had molested three boys, including two Syracuse ballboys."

Here's the story on the sexual abuse support group calling for Boeheim's firing. The calls for Boeheim's job stem from the fact he was defiant in calling Bobby Davis and Mike Lang, the first Fine accusers, "liars" who were after a "money grab."

Boeheim expressed regret over those initial statements Sunday night, once a third accuser and a phone recording claimed by ESPN to be that of Laurie Fine, Bernie's wife, surfaced. Fine was fired by the university Sunday.

No FanatsyQB, nothing like calling the kettle black. I've seen a bunch of your posts and all seem to say, treat everyone like JoePa was treated. We'll guess what, I don't believe Boeheim ever had an assistant coach walk into his office and tell him a pedofile is raping a child in the shower and than see NOTHING done about it for 9 years. I'd say that your kettle was "radioactive". Penn State is in a class all by themselves on this one.

It might help if the accusers could get their stories straight.

From the NY Daily News: "The third accuser, 23-year-old Zach Tomaselli said in a sworn statement to Syracuse police that he rode the team bus from Syracuse to a game in Pittsburgh in 2002 and was molested by Fine in the team hotel when he was just 13 years old. But the Daily News checked the schedule for that season and discovered the team did not take a bus to Pittsburgh, but instead flew to Pittsburgh after a road game in Tennessee."

Boeheim just said what everyone was thinking - there are way too many sketchy details in this. Molested til he was 27? Really? Molested on road trip, even though ballboys don't travel with the team? He brings up the allegations when he turns 30, then drops it for 8 years until the spotlight is ready due to the PSU scandal? I'm sure Fine did molest him - that sucks and I hope Fine burns in hell for what he did, even though he won't do jail time due to the statute of limitations, but this has nothing with Boeheim or the university., and the media needs to step off and stop trying to turn it into another PSU situation.

So when you said "Even though Jim Boeheim can slander good ole Joe PA, at least Jim Boehiem and Jerry Sandusky has something in common, they both think sex abuse victims speak up because they want money", you weren't comparing???

Another freaking Pennsylvania loser trying to share their misery.......

Actually it took Penn State over a decade to do something about their situation. Don't flatter yourself, they had no choice once their dirty laundry was aired in the grand jury indictment. Don't think for a minute Penn State would have done something about this if they didn't have to. I haven't seen ANYTHING resembling Penn State at Syracuse. Now if it turns out there is more to the story involving Boeheim, than I'd be the first one telling you he should go. But I'm sorry to try and compare the conspiracy at Penn State with "comments" made by Boeheim is quite ridiculous don't you think??????
