Sullinger out Saturday with back spasms

Ohio State sophomore Jared Sullinger will miss Saturday’s game against Texas Pan American with back spasms and could be out of action even longer, a source told CBSSports.com.

Sullinger has been receiving treatment for the last couple of days, and will be re-evaluated after the weekend. He did not practice Thursday or Friday.

The Buckeyes aren't certain when Sullinger will return, but sources told CBSSports.com that the injury could keep Sullinger out for an extended period of time.

The news that Sullinger would miss the UT-Pan American game was first reported by The Columbus Dispatch, which wrote he was out with an undisclosed injury.

Sullinger, the preseason Player of the Year by most media outlets, is averaging 19.1 points and 10.3 rebounds per game this season. Ohio State is 7-0, including a 22-point win over Duke earlier this week.

Back Spasms are horribly painful, in many cases you can't even stand up straight.  But they often disappear overnight, so lets hope Sully has a fast and total recovery!

Really interested to see how the bench steps up in this one...so far so good. Keep it up Bucks! This way Sully will be healthy and rested when we really need him!

DO NOT PLAY HIM TODAY! Time to see what the Ohio State bench is all about. Sit him on it and pull these young guys off and let the show begin! Sully needs to recupe. Let him mend instead of limping into Big Ten play. The good news is that Ross is coming on board. He was the better recruit of all of them. This team should be fine even if he has to sit against Kansas and others. Let's get him healthy. My question is: How is LENZELLE after his hard fall? This kid is going to be awesome! He is a worker!

What a completely blown out of porportion headline that is! They take a couple of days of treatment and turn it into "could be out for weeks". Ok chicken little, monkeys could fly outta' my butt. Tards.

what fun would it be playing OSU without Sullinger?

its not like KU has a home winning streak to worry about, and a non-conference loss to a great team wont hurt the Jayhawks..rather, playing against a great player will help them...

Jayhawk Nation wishes Mr. Sullinger complete recovery from his injury. Now, injuries like this can take some time to heal, so I sure hope Mr. Sullinger will take off next week,rest up and be ready to play for the duration of the season. I know it would be a crushing blow if he was unable to play against Kansas, but his health concerns must come first.

Could be a blessing in disguise for the Bucks. Matta (as good of a coach as he is) never develops his bench and it kills them in the Big Dance. He's going to be forced to use some of those young bigs he's got picking splinters right now. He's going have to use them now.
 It will help in the long run.

A true fan of college basketball never wants to see one of the game's best players be hurting, but a true human being never wants to see a young man not able to do what he loves.  Here is to the speediest of recoveries for one of college b-ball's best big men...get weel soon Jared!
