CBSSports.com Preseason National Player of the Year Jared Sullinger will miss Saturday's game against Kansas with apparent back spasms, according to a Tweet from former Buckeye Mark Titus.

"Was just told Jared isn't dressing today," Titus Tweeted Saturday afternoon.

CBSSports.com's Jeff Goodman has confirmed the news.

This development means some of the luster is gone from Saturday's tilt between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 13 Kansas because the much-anticipated matchup between Sullinger and KU star Thomas Robinson will not happen. Tip-off is at 3:15 ET. This will be the second straight game that Sullinger has missed.

LOL, did you even watch the game?  The announcers said that Thad Matta has had many back surgeries so he's very cautious when it comes to back injuries, and NO, I haven't heard anything saying why he has had back spasms.

Also what you fail to realize is that KU was ranked 13th with this current group of players NOT last years players, and same with tOSU being ranked number 2, and yes tOSU can play without Sullinger, but it's alot tougher to do so, and for KU to only win by 11, which really was a closer game than that until they started fouling, and tOSU was missing 19 points plus 10 rebounds and who knows what else is kind of not a good thing for KU.  With Sullinger in the lineup tOSU wins by at least 15 cause no way KU would get many offensive rebounds with sully in the lineup which means not as many points, and yes one player shouldn't make up a team, but don't tell that to the indinapolis colts though, also when that player is most likely gonna be the POY in the entire NCAA it means something, and no one can deny that.  Nice win KU, but it's a bit different than it would've been if sully would've been in the lineup and you had still won.  Remember all you need to do is get in the NCAA tournament at the end of the year in order to win the national title, not be ranked 1 or 2.

Ohio State will play Kansas without Sullinger

What I am hearing is Ohio State cannot win without Sullinger.  A great team is made up of a great core of players.  What I am hearing from the OSU fans is that is not the case.  KU lost 4 of 5 starters from last year and still beat the #2 team in the country using what is called a team effort.  Congratulations KU.

According to Sully's Dad he has back spasms because of platar fasciitis; ie, inflamation of the achilles tendon that is rare for a young person unless they have flat feet. Hell, that kept many out of war back in the day. Team Drs say baloney. Bilas said he couldn't touch his toes before the game. JMO but maybe he didn't want Thomas Robinson to steal the thunder & just punked out. When you have PF real bad you can't walk because of the pain. I saw alot of smiles it seemed. Either way you cut it, doesn't look good to NBA scouts for being the #1 overall. Don't really care, but Taylor's been playing with a torn meniscus for 2 wks and will have surgery next week & he played. Not real well, but he did play virtually the entire game. Was a step slow on def. IMO TRob is a man & Sully just ain't quite that mature yet. Oh, he'll get there for sure but the resume isn't quite what is should be right now. We'll take it & see ya in March Sully. Heal up.

Buford carried them the second half Fitzwell. He had a very poor first half but that happens sometimes. If he would have been on in the first half. Different game.

Robinson was just too much underneath and they shot their best game in a couple of years. We get Sully back and Ross so we'll be just fine.

Good win Kansas.

Is it wrong to feel good that it was only a 9 point loss? We're down perhaps the best player in the country and still hold Kansas to only 59 points. But with all the OSU haters, how far in the polls do you think we will drop?

ATTENTION: ALL Ohio State haters Please go jack--- in the corner.

Now a real comment: I am tired of hearing how great Buford is. He is the lone senior and he looks lost except for the interior pass he made.
Otherwise it looks like a repeat of last years tourney where he contributed zip at crunch time when his leadership was really required to get a tough win. Just dont tell me how great he is. He IS NOT A MONEY PLAYER.  Give me Tu Holloway all day long.!!!!

I would be surprised if we get this win on the road today without Sully. Worst possible matchup underneath without him. We'll need a ton of turnovers and points in transition to get the win.
