Louisville's Behanan: "We're going undefeated."

By Jeff Borzello

Like the Kentucky vs. Louisville game in two weeks needed any more ammunition between the two teams.

Louisville freshman Chane Behanan had some interesting things to say after the Cardinals beat Memphis on Saturday.

“We’re the No. 1 team in the country in my eyes,” Behanan said. “We’re going undefeated. Point blank, period.”

Oh boy.

Louisville? The best team in the country? I think unbeatens such as Syracuse, Missouri and Baylor might have something to say about that. Kentucky, North Carolina and Ohio State probably have an argument too.

With that said, there’s a better chance of Louisville being No. 1 than going undefeated.

Sure, the Cardinals are 10-0 with wins over Memphis and Vanderbilt, but undefeated? They have Georgetown and Kentucky before the calendar turns, and then the entire Big East gauntlet in January and February, not to mention a season finale at Syracuse.

Strong words from anyone, let alone a freshman.

I get that Behanan is just being confident, and you love to see that from a newcomer, but this comment could come back to bite him.

Louisville has a PATHETIC. Schedule....I GUARANTEE you that if UNlV had that schedule, we'd also be undefeated....and UNTESTED....U of L will have , at minimum, six losses by year end. I wouldn't be surprised if they had ten losses.

Yu mean the way Calipari handled Pitno's full Court pressure in '09 and '10 with freshmen dominated teams? You mean like the way Cuse was to dependant on Carmello? You see where that got'em

You don't see IU as intruiging?

nothing wrong with a kid being a bit overconfident. just like su the ville has a defense that has some serious swag to it. will truly enjoy watching uks frosh struggle to handle 40 mins of pitino ball he$$. from what ive seen the most intriguing teams out there are su the ville and the buckeyes. uk is too dependant on davis, unc too inconsistant on d (normal for a roy w team) , uconn is a ways away and kemba isnt coming through that door..finally mizzou is good but not good enough defensively in the half court

You beat Loyola of Maryland by 24...you cannot be so delusional that you think you are gonna beat UL by 20...bet you won't put your $ where your mouth is...cause that's what UK fans do best, run their mouth...Im sure you predicted that UK would beat IU by 30 since they were unranked at the time, how did that turn out for you!!!!!???

Typical Cayut fan argument.  Dude, "play someone" or "play somewhere other than home" arguments are tired.  Get off our sacks.  Why are y'all so obsessed in UofL and their schedule/where they play?  Especially when it backfires on you.

As of right now, your SoS rank is 111 and RPI rank is 25 and that's with Loyola BOOSTING both - I only know because I was looking at RPI for top 10 teams since everyone uses this same bogus argument.  You've played a wopping one away game (the two neutral games don't count and likely had a home game feel to them for UK honestly)
As of right now, our SoS rank is  61 (reads we've played a tougher schedule to date - put that in your pipe and smoke it) and RPI is 5th.  WKU will push that SoS higher, but then Big East conference games start and SoS will go to among the toughest in the nation.  .

Almost all UK fans have the same argument early in the season... "Play somebody"... Big East Basketball is similar to SEC Football in that why would we schedule tough OOC opponents when we already play in the toughest league in the nation - at least for the next two years?  The Yum center is a brand new facility - and the best in the nation - and we need to pay the bills for it and who wouldn't want to play in it too?  Hell, I believe UK wants to play a "neutral" game in it against someone other than UofL... IF UK ever gets a new arena, they're going to be doing the same thing.

How could Chane not feel this way? I mean after UL's Manhandling of Ohio, Vanderbilt, Memphis, and most recently College of Charleston all in their KentuckyFriedTacoPizza Center!

Classic Freshman mistake. These kinds of comments mess with team chemistry and get unwanted publicity, which ultimately can throw team focus off of each game. Usually after things like this are said is when the team begins their downswing. And with UK to play next week? This should make for some interesting basketball.

Awwww, you probably thought along the lines of this guy too didn't you?

There were several guarantees made in that from a very delusional fool and they'd not played anybody.
