No one had Missouri winning in Waco.

It appeared to be the ultimate mismatch. Mizzou's lack of size and depth on the road against the endless length and big bodies that reside in Scott Drew's program.

Missouri's non-conference body of work had been questioned. Then the diminutive and short-handed Tigers went on the road and got smacked in Manhattan by Kansas State a couple weeks ago.

There were those -- myself included -- who needed to see more from Frank Haith's club.

This is a team that has one legitimate post player in Ricardo Ratliffe. Haith had no option but to utilize Kim English -- a perimeter player -- on the inside as the power forward.

The rebounding margin could be embarrassing against the Big Bad Baylor Bears.

It was. For Drew & Co.

Missouri actually won the battle on the glass on Saturday afternoon -- and held off Baylor in Waco on Saturday, giving the Tigers the inside track -- along Kansas -- for the Big 12 title.

Haith's Tigers are now 18-1 with the lone loss coming at K-State. This team just dispatched of the third-ranked team in the nation on its home court, arguably the most impressive victory for any team this season.

Missouri will host Kansas on Feb. 4 and then face the Jayhawks in Lawrence on Feb. 25.

Those two games could determine the Big 12 crown and also whether Missouri can earn a No. 1 seed come March.

Ratliffe was a man in the paint and pint-sized and jet-quick point guard Phil Pressey controlled the tempo, make life easier for his teammates and created havoc for Baylor's ball-handlers. On the "flip" side, Perry Jones III was a no-show for virtually the entire game while freshman Quincy Miller kept Baylor in the game.

The final score, 89-88, wasn't indicative of how Missouri controlled this game. It was Mizzou dominance. On the perimeter, in the paint. Just about everywhere.

It's about time we started taking this team seriously. Yes, as a Final Four contender.

Has no play on how this season will unfold. The best team you've beaten on the road so far is Texas and you only won that game by 3. I don't understand how so many KU fans are confident that they can win on the road at K-State, ISU, Baylor, and Mizzou so easily. No way they win all those games. " With a two game lead in the conference and Mizzou losing to a crappy team @Okie State, we don't NEED to win them all. THAT'S what we're trying to say!!! Keep hanging on to that K-State game, it's the only knock you all can say about this team at this point. Oops.

Every single one of them are fairweather bandwagon fans. They have no idea what it's like to live and die with a team. After lossess in the tourney, these pitiful people go back into hiding until the next season. You've posted about Mizzou basketball FOUR TIMES since the beginning of the season. THAT'S "to live and die with a team"? That's hilarious. Go check the Kansas team message boards and the Mizzou message boards and tell me again who has fairweather fans that disappear in the offseason. There was not ONE Mizzou basketball fan on the boards in the offseason. Heck, there are only a total of TWELVE threads on the Mizzou boards right now. There are five TIMES that number on the KU message boards.

You see often that a new coach can get someone else's squad to do things they weren't aware they could do, with a mindset & x & o change. Harbaugh just did it in Frisco with Singletary's team. Not in my DNA to give kudos to missery very often, so listen up Tiger fans, it may never happen again. Your execution was good, your intensity was even better, and Scott Drew is doing an absolutely pitiful job at BU. That said, it may just be that winning close games at the end is a task that none of the teams in the BG12 can do come dance time. As for your season vs your future in the SEC, ride the wave now because even General Patton said "Victory is fleeting." The SEC ain't gonna be no picnic. You guys know that I talk tons of trash about "missery", but just this once, and only once I'll admit I will really miss the rivalry we've had through the years. Would & could even be so much better now that KUFB has some coaches that can get better talent. Hopefully after the anger wears off, KU will tee it up & tip it off with the Tigers at AHead & Sprint again. This is IMO, the greatest college rivalry in the nation & is a damn shame it's not going to happen for the foreseeable future. And on a personal level I will share that some of my ancestors died in the real "Border War" 150 yrs ago and alot of my posts directly reflect that heritage, and absolutely nothing personal to any Missouri posters, fans, alums, residents or any of the kids that play for their teams. As sad as it was to see the old BG8 transition, this is even more of a downer. But at least we both get the opportunity to hand out one last good spanking this year, so good luck with your future, except when we match up against each other. Hope we can pick where we leave this thing off in the near future. Maybe these pompous a$$ AD's will figure out how to follow the breadcrumbs back to we all can agree to disagree.
