Devon Sill also seems like a top interior lineman from what i can tell today i wll have to make sure to watch him next week. kid out of clemson is getting a lot of hype ' thompson' havent seen all that much from him so i will have to check him out.

going to check out bama and the gators now, keeping an eye on hightower, i still like the bc kid and the other guy whose name is a chore to remember ( burfict) or some crap out of az. they are both beasts but you know my thoughts on who i prefer.

The Russell Wilson kid is by far the better QB in the Wisconsin vs Nebraska game. Martinez sucks azz!!

It looks like the kid Zeitler RG can pull pretty good and get that lead block.

On a side note, I love the way richardson runs, he's a beast!!

Thinking the same thing on Martinez. Running is his best asset and he has a very fragile psyche.

I agree he is probably too small for the NFL but I would sure give him a shot for a few reasons. 1. his ability to move.. creating space creates lanes to throw 2. baseball, the kid can put it anywhere he wants with some serious velocity 3. he has the intangibles: leader, intelligence and knowledge of the game. 
He may head to MLB anyway so this may all be moot?

Brees is 6'0".............   And I'd venture to say that WIlson is better athelete...  hmm Vick is 6'0"  also.. 

I did see some of the Texas A&M QB - this kid can make Pro level throws..  can hit the outs..   One to watch..

Besides Wisconsin's RG - I thought the LG Fredericks after the first series had a real good night vs Jared Crick most of the night,,,

Anyone catch Alabama/Florida last night ? Alabama reminds me of the 90'steelers. Great hard hitting defense and a running game other teams just cant shut down. Trent Richardson  is a beast at RB, no dancing just run through tackles and dares you to try and stop him.
I had more fun watching this game than the last 4 Steelers games.Maybe even the Steelers last 3 -4 years.

So they need lineman. Lineman lineman and more lineman. 

If Colbert ever had a year to look at LT, it should be 2012.

Matt Kalil is a pretty safe pick, not sure how the rest of this season goes but the OL is just pittiful.

9/7/11: Kalil had a good first game blocking against Minnesota but was not tested by an elite pass rusher.

8/20/11: Matt Kalil is a top-flight left tackle prospect. His quality play kept Tyron Smith on the right side last year. He did an excellent job of protecting Matt Barkley in 2010 and looks poised to build on that success in 2011. Kalil has strong blood lines with his father and brother making it into the league. He looks like a very safe pick, and a player that won't get out of the top five. Kalil is a specimen that should only get stronger as he ages in an NFL strength and conditioning program. He is technically sound, and ready for the NFL.

NO way the Steelers have a shot at kalil. he does look safe, have you see the kid out of stanford? martin is real solid also the Tackle out of iowa i think, rieff? or something. i think the steelers have a shot at datko out of florida state. ILB may not be a bad idea either. something like the kid out of notre damn or BC,i think vontaze will get hyped up too much and go top 10.

2K, It depends on who is drafting ahead of Pittsburgh. Miami has Jake Long, the Rams have Rodger Saffold, the Seahawks have Russell Okung, The Panthers have Jordan Gross, The Broncos have Ryan Clady,  and the Browns have Joe Thomas. The one team that sucks right now that needs a LT is the Vikings.  this is off the top of my head, I really did not look at any rosters or standings.

thats a valid point but i think teams often wont let a premier tackle fall out of the top 5 even factoring in need. out of the people you sugegested, okung, gross and possibly clady could be upgraded, perhaps not clady, he is pretty solid.

right now the USC tackle is miles infront of the others. so was oher at one point aswell i guess. who knows.i also dont see the Steelers picking lower than 18 at worst.

but what if that team has a sucky Defense, look at what the Lions did with Ndomukong Suh, or if they have no QB or pass rushers. Sure LT is very valuable but you also need all the pieces of the puzzle. What good do two good tackles do you if your Defense sucks or your QB is not up to par. Just as good as protecting the QB is getting to the QB. You need a balance and if your LT is top ten then why go out and get another one, it would be like having Eli Manning backing up Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, okay Matt Kalil was a pipe dream, but I got another guy who will help Pittsburgh.

Mentioned him a few weeks back ( as well as several times since) :p and i agree he is the best interior line prospect for me that fits pits scheme but he is also rising, may rise out of reach.

Don't look now guys but Saffold has come back to earth after an impressive rookie campaign. Did they get away from the short passing game and expose him on these routes that take longer to develop?

I definitely think they are in the market for a LT. Jason Smith has been a complete bust and Saffold is probably more suited for the right side.

 

Beach, good point the Rams are in the market for a LT, no way Kalil lasts past pick 5. The top tier OT class just thinned out Datko out of Florida State just had surgery that went bad and he may be done. I know you did not like Sherrod, we get some wrong, but Marshall Newhouse faired much better and he was not a high pick. I think me and bb liked him. I also liked Jamon Merideth, I hope Kugler works his magic. The knock on #69 was the wonderlic score. I like his wing span and he can not suck too bad if they dressed him on Sunday and cut Chris Scott instead of him.

The way the Rams are playing they might just end up with the first overall pick. Andrew Luck may not go first after all. Right now it's a contest between them, the Colts, and the Dolphins, and the latter two do need a QB. Bill Polian must be a holy saint blessed by God himself if he can land Luck. Imagine Luck succeeding Manning. Holy crap.
