I've seen a few mocks with us taking Nate Potter OT from Boise State with our 2nd first round pick.  Any opinions on him Irish (since you're pretty tuned in on the college prospects)?

Quite a few mock drafts have us taking RGIII and with our 2nd first rounder taking his buddy at Kendall Wright WR both from Baylor.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reiterates that impending free agent Peyton Hillis is "most likely gone" in 2012.

Beat writer Mary Kay Cabot hints that the Browns brass had already made up its mind on Hillis by Week 14. Increasingly injury-prone with a fumbling problem, Hillis won't see the $5 million to $6 million a year he's said to be requesting from the Browns. Per Cabot, the Browns believe the offensive line is strong enough that another back can be plugged in at a fraction of the cost.

Browns GM Tom Heckert said Thursday that LG Eric Steinbach is nearly fully recovered from the back surgery that wiped out his 2011 season.

Steinbach had the surgery on August 30, so he's over four months removed. The Browns will have to make a decision on Steinbach's $6 million base salary this offseason. At age 32 with injury red flags, he may have to take a pay cut.

Surprised Laughing WOO HOO!! I hadn't heard that to date...actually does a lot for our offseason if it is true. If healthy, he is worth every penny of that $6M salary due in 2012.

To be honest Duff, I don't know a lot about the skills for O-linemen...I.E. zone scheme vs. power scheme etc...What I have read about Potter though, is that he is a smaller build guy with athleticism that knows how to protect the QB...sounds great, except that he is also known as a lack luster run blocker. I want to protect the QB, but that is usually more of an issue for a left tackle. Many of the great run blocking RTs can also protect the QB from that side of the line...unless of course you are so old and imobile(Pashos) that your skills have eroded beyond usability.

For my money, if I am taking a tackle at #22, then I am taking Mike Adams..

Has anyone heard if D.J. Fluker from Alabama has stated one way or the other on 2012 yet? If he leaves, then I would not think twice about taking him at #22!

Isn't he a sophmore?  Or is that a fluke?

He's a red-shirt sophmore(Junior class student), but rumors a couple of weeks ago were that he was coming out...then he released a half arsed statement to the contrary to stop all the questions he was getting...not sure if it was what he really planned to do...

Thats good news about Steinbach....We sure missed him.

99% of running backs are just not worth 5 to 6 million a year.....Especially injury prone guys that fumble too much....I'd like to see us keep Hillis at a reasonable price.  He is a talanted player when healthy, and I love the way he catches the ball out of the backfield.   But we can't committ that much money to a flake.....and he was kind of flakey this year.....Bottom line is, unless the guy is in the class of Ray RiceMatt ForteAdrian Peterson, and MJD,  he just isn't going to command that kind of money.....Hillis is good, but he's not that good.

How about a contract with these terms? 3 years $18M, with $8M guarenteed, $2M signing bonus for his work in 2010...The other ten million will be made up with reasonable incentives, like rushing for 1,000 yards, receiving 300 yards, scoring 12+ TDs, making the pro bowl/All Pro etc...

That would be refreshing to have a comfortable contract for the player, will make no less than $10M with salary and signing bonus, comfortable for the team, only three years and reasonable money guarenteed...

Why make up a fake contract for 5 years $40M(unspecified reveals only $12M guarenteed or something), when everyone knows it is really only a 3 year contract that someone will be unhappy with after the 3 years? So the player either gets cut(if team is unhappy), or they hold out for a new contract(if player is unhappy).

I don't think I would be looking at RGIII at #4 overall...Sealed

I might be waiting by the phone in case the Packers don't franchise Flynn though...at worst, he would make a better backup than Wallace if Colt beats him out as starter...

How about waiting for Seattle and Washington to start a bidding war so they can get RG3Surprised

Yeah.....Then all us Browns fans can watch another franchise achieve greatness, (evidently Seattle or Washington) while we settle in for another exciting year of Colt McCoy!   Maybe we could lose enough so that we'll get an even higher pick to use in a tradedown in 2013!!!

Geezus....Eventually, maybe 3 or 4 years after Joe Thomas retires, we'll have enough pieces in place to finally make that move for a QB.....

OOOOOOORRRRRRRRRR...........we could take a QB now and possibly become relavant again.

RG3  =  A faster version of Steve Young.....Why you wouldn't be interested in that at #4 is a HUGE mystery to me Irish.
