Agreed in terms of DHS, slump. It's absurd to consider this a security issue. And the best part - it was done by ICE. If someone can explain to me what this has to do with immigration or customs, I'd love to hear it.

But, that being said (and I know I'll get reamed for this, but oh well) - odds are this has nothing to do with Bettman. There has been an ongoing war agains streaming sites for some time now, and it's the broadcasters that are waging it. The people who have paid money for the exclusive broadcasting rights to these events are the ones who are having the hissy fits. In this case, the prime suspect is Rupert Murdoch. He's been at the forefront of the war on filesharing and streaming all along. His publishing empire is one of the first, if not the first major one, to require payment to read their freaking websites. HBO and Disney are also very big in this battle. But I mention Murdoch for a couple of reasons. One, he's a total tool with a long history of this kind of crap. Two, the fine folks in the government with too much time on their hands have stated that this latest batch was because of the upcoming Super Bowl.

However, they screwed up. First, I am amazed that atdhe and channelsurfing were registered in this country. I had assumed they were registered overseas, because I am shocked it took them this long to go after them in light of their US registrations. But second, they did it too far in advance. The easy solution to this issue is to register your site elsewhere, somewhere that the US copyright squad can't get at so easily. They gave all the players involved here plenty of time to get their sites back up before sunday.

atdhe.me or atdhenet.tv

channelsurf.eu (note: channelsurf now, not channelsurfing)

Enjoy. :)

ha, not by me lol, thanks for beating me to big Gar's defence.

Knew about newscorp and Disney, (sn't HBO still Time Warner?) and Time Warner who's been going after this stuff too.   CBS in on it too? and what about the guys that own MTV (not that I care about MTV, I just like knowing who to blame so I can whine and not do anything about it)?   How about Comcast? Seems like all the news about them has only been about the purchase and fcc/jd.

That would make the most sense.    DHS........not gonna do it....not gonna do it.......not gonna do it.........whew didn't do it, back to hockey.

Blackhawks had a goofy one last night, Erhoff and Luongo playing too many cards to get the zebras to make a call for them early in the year, that will come back around in the postseason, but good for them for trying.    I thought Brouwer had a great game last night, too bad the zebras screwed up the thing.   Still, even game going into the third and the Hawks couldn't get it done, I didn't think there was much to gripe about other than some of the penalty calls/no calls similar to every match, so I'll give the Canucks credit for hanging in there.

Getting tough for the Hawks, I thought they've been the better team on the ice for so many contests now where they didn't get a point, they're going to have to make up for it taking 38-42 of their last 60 to get into the post season.   Getting dicey, fortunately, I think they have enough skill and experience to climb above most of the contenders in the West and shouldn't need too much help to get in.    They will need help on the PK or circle come the deadline if they are serious.

Word is Haviland is coaching the PK again, Pk was turning around until last night, and go figure 0 for 5 with the advantage.    Kitchen is starting to be a concern of mine, everything else is falling into place as far as how last year's guys are supposed to play and the new guys fitting into roles.   I like how the Hawks have been playing overall though, much more physical and they're getting loose pucks to the point it's more than offsetting the disadvantages of being average or worse in the circle.    I wonder if Stan is going to able to make a move work or not, I like Leddy, but his cap hit is too big if Stan is going to be able to upgrade for a deep shut down d-man or another center that can actually win a faceoff 50% of the time.  We'll see.

Posted the vids of Versteeg rapping on the Toronto thread after I found this one here when I was checking out some prospects that had been to some camps.   He's not a prospect for anybody, I don't know how I came across his name, but his talents will obviously take him places other than the ice in the NHL.

Nasty stretch for the Hawks continues next week, 4 games in 6 days.   Calgary is next, nobody gave them or the Coyotes the memo that their seasons were supposed to be over by now, hope they roll over for the Hawks.

I'm going to watch the SB, I just hope it's a good one, after Los Osos lost 2 weeks ago, I kinda lost interest, and no money on it.   Maybe I can catch a nipple because the commercials get more lame every year.    When's the lingerie bowl on?

I haven't heard about CBS being involved in any of this yet, but that doesn't mean anything.

As for Comcast - now that they've bought NBC/Universal, they are one of the largest entertainment companies in the world. It was a very bad idea to allow this merger.

IT'S COMCASTIC!

Sorry, should have been more specific. NBC/Universal has a long history of this kind of stuff. And Comcast is now the worst of all worlds. They now produce the content, and they are the largest ISP in the country, as well as owning a major broadcaster, several cable channels, and countless local stations.

[soap box]

The media cannot be controlled by a small group. It's a horrible scenario. Nothing good can come from it. The media, of all industries, needs diversity. The flow of information cannot be at the whim of a 'privileged' few.

The flow of information cannot be at the whim of a 'privileged' few.
And risk ruining tradition?   No, I don't exactly dig Comcast buying NBC, but the JD and FCC didn't roll over "completely", they are making Comcast sell a few channels that would have given them almost complete dominance in the market within certain types of programming, I think I may have posted an article somewhere on a thread a few weeks or at least commented about it.    Comcast will be a dedicated public servant, keeping low broadband rates for poor areas, how could anybody be concerned?

Have you kept up with the fcc ruling about Comcast a couple weeks ago in their battle with Level 3 Communications?   I forgot if I saw it online or the WSJ, and can't find the good article I read about it initially, but I did find a nice biased piece here when I was trying to find the original.   I only linked that one because of this quote:
Like two ice hockey enforcers, the companies scrapped and jabbed at each other for more than a month.
Gotta try to keep the conversation relevant to the thread title.   Couldn't tie in an fcc ruling and cheetos, but that Chester will give me a commercial or ad that will let me do it soon enough.

Aside from Comcast becoming a larger behemoth in media I'm going to comment on one part I look forward to about it, Sports media.   I think Comcast will now be big enough to bite into Disney's evil sports empire on that one channel(s).   With comcast big enough to bid on contracts, I thick wnba coverage (I'm sure it's an exciting league, just not my thing) among other sports will take a step back and we should see some a larger quantity and more effective sports reporting instead of sports promotion, as that other network focuses on maintaining it's market share and dominance in the market.    In other words, I like that there's going to be real competition in sports media now.
The sale is ultimately a turd, and many agree, but I'm hopeful it will be a shiny one (until it dulls) in my world of sports comsumption.   I disagree that nothing good can come from it if I can reliably turn to sports programming on a major network without my stomach going into convulsions.   I'll be a little more comfortable with the whole thing if that turns out to be the case.    Okay, I'm mostly lying to myself, but since I'm not likely to get on a horse and ride to crusade against it, that's my story (excuse) and I'm sticking with it.

Nice to Detroit trying to make the Central a little more interesting.    I read that Modano will be back in as little as 3 weeks, that should give him enough time to get comfortable again.  It's funny that Detroit falls on its face briefly now, after they blew through the roughest stretch of the season while enduring all the significant injuries, just when I think Detroit is going to catch up and get ahead of Van.

Dallas is finally showing it's defensive holes, SJ woke up, and Chi and LA are playing better hockey but not getting the points.    I don't think  PHO has the offense to get in the postseason, and Nashville allegedly has a serious interest to get more help.   Nobody told Minn, Calgary, CLB, or STL that their seasons are supposed to over, so the West is going to be fun to watch the rest of this year.    Colorado looks dead on the ice, may become a seller.   Calgary wins a couple more games out of the next 3, and I'm going to have to wonder if they don't turn into a buyer at the trade deadline.    Wild West this year.   I'm sure CLB will make some major moves, they went way over what should have been their budget this year.

Those bottom spots in the East are going to be fun to track to, but not as many teams will be gunning for them.

Who makes the first trades in the West?

HA! Beach and warmth were far from me I can tell you.......however spot on the drunk part LOL

Yeah lost my phone two weekends ago (that was kinda hell yet nice at the same time) this dude called me and said he had found it in a couch in a bar I was in. Lucky for me I had Home programed in it. Funny thing was I dont remember sitting on the couch and I went back and searched the places I was at.

OYE the Blackhawks.........only player I see going to the net is Troy Brouwer. I just dont see any heart on this team.....well verry little any way. there are a few players that show heart. At this point I would trade Kane in a second, he does have a NTC but a bus ticket back to Buffalo would make him happy I am sure. I am glad Keith spoke up someone other than Toews nedded to.

I am not so sure about Stan........he kinda seems a bit stand offish with the public and maybe takes too much advice from poppa making him second guess  possiable moves. I do know his hands are kind of tied with the cap but I think a core player needs to be moved. I know Hammer is rumored to be the target in the summer but as I said Kane to Buffalo with a few others like skillie, Hendry and crawford for Miller, Montador and Stafford...............

I see you got Dats back.....bout time

I took pleasure in the Packers win.........NOT a Rothlisraper fan at all. Good game though and the comercials werent that great for 3 mill per 30 second ad.

Thats funny about the refs cause I sewar I read Toews lips when he got tossed "drop the puck" He was not happy at all!

Forthe lulz soap boxes are a regular thing on this thread, slump and I have a pile of them

BOB! I am thinking the Hawks will implode if a move isnt made. I am feeling havoc in the lockerroom

Yeppers the Thrashers will make some adjustments in the coming week or so............Did you see the stellar pass that Big Buff made in the Maple Leafs game? It was right to a leafs player and he put it in net hahaha. that is why the Blackhawks didnt want him on the blue line.

I heard a rumor that had Seabrook going to the Oilers haha it was on Chicago Raido...........

The Raiders..........Ugh they have thier coach and no first rounder......the Patriots have that. I am just hoping they get a FA WR that can be a leader and Al gets pushed in the closet on draft day. Other wise he will pich Herb Jackson from Bimijji State. (dont bother looking him up he isnt real)

HA! Yeah I am gonna have to try that Recipe................not

I like that trade with the Panthers....yes the hawks do add dollars to the cap. skillie was making 600k, but he was Tallons mistake. He now has him back and can continue his bet that he will be what he thinks he is. Myself I wish him luck and luck to Tallon that it works out. In that draft I wanted Kopitar or Oshie and honestly in reverse order.

I seen where Stan Bowman said he was NOT trading Brent Seabrook this season.........So I am wondering if "this season" are the key words in that statement. There is no way the Hawks can pay Seabrook, Troy Brouwer, and Corey Crawford + the 11 or so other positions on the team. Thier Core is top heavy, and some one of substance has to be delt. I dont think much get accomplished trading a 3m player (Sharp/Hjalmerson), Which is why I am always trying to pimp Kane. To me he is a one dementional player, Yes I know he is a tallent but I would rather have a better all around player for half his salary (6.3 per). After this season the hawks will have cap issues like last year........maybe not as bad but tough decisions need to be made. Also the over all out look (result) is most likely the same as it is this year.

Slump I think you can relax a bit I dont see the Blackhawks sneaking in to steal the Norris.

For Hockey Day in Canada Grapes jacket is kinda tame. That dude is god like up there. I have been watching NHLN all day I think its great how a great game like Hockey brings a country together. I wish something like that could happen here in the states. I do know we have a Hockey day in America coming up but I can gaurentee that it will not be of the magnatude that it is in Canada.
