Day 732 September 1, 1941

US Navy allocates battleships USS Idaho, USS Mississippi & USS New Mexico plus 2 cruisers and 13 destroyers to patrol the Denmark Strait, escorting Atlantic convoys with American merchants.

Operation Gauntlet (Allied destruction of coal mines on Norwegian island of Spitsbergen). Troopship RMS Empress Of Canada and escorts British cruiser HMS Nigeria & 3 destroyers return to Spitsbergen from Arkhangelsk, USSR (carrying 200 French escapees from German POW camps who traveled to Arkhangelsk). All Allied forces embark for UK plus 800 Spitsbergen inhabitants and 15 sled dogs. Operation Gauntlet was concluded with no casualties and the ships return to Scapa Flow after a 7,000 mile round trip.

Day 732.  CBS Admins are unable to destroy favorite limits, and take heavy casualties (Shuless, Chan).  The remaining admins return roughly 7,000 inches from their 3 1/2 trip to the toilet.

Shoe-in for a world record? Woman owns 733 pairs of Converse sneakers

63-year-old Floridian Penny Gold gets her kicks from collecting pairs of the iconic shoe.  A retired teacher in Florida reveals her stash of 733 pairs of Converse sneakers that may be included in next year's Guinness Book of World Records.

Gold’s infatuation with Converse Chuck Taylors started when she was a teenager growing up in Brooklyn in the 1960s, when Chucks were the signature shoe of members of the New York Knicks. The shoe fit, so she decided to wear it 700 different ways, with it officially becoming an obsession about 15 years ago after three Converse outlet stores opened in the Orlando area about 25 minutes from her home. Now she is on a first-name basis with employees at the three stores, who set aside several pairs of unusual new ones for her when they come in.

Day 733.  Layers of irony.  Name: Penny Gold...   CBS user support.    Teacher in sneaks...  Admins in silence.   New footwear...  old favorites.   Converse...  Obverse.    Chuck...  like an air ball in hoops.  A brick, a terrible attempt.  An obsession for 15 years..  a crusade for this 2nd day into 3 years.  World Record?...   for non-response, probably.

Any....    Day...           NOW.

Mickey Mantle's longest Home Run

(1) 734 feet (5/22/63, Yankee Stadium Façade* – Pitcher: Bill Fischer, Kansas City Athletics – Hit Left-handed)

Mickey said "the hardest ball I ever hit" came in the 11th inning on May 22, 1963 at Yankee Stadium. Leading off in the bottom of the 11th, with the score tied 7-7, A's pitcher Bill Fischer tried to blow a fastball past Mickey.   Bad idea.

Mickey stepped into it and, with perfect timing, met the ball with the sweet spot of his bat, walloping it with everything he had. The sound of the bat colliding with the ball was likened to a cannon shot. The players on both benches jumped to their feet. Yogi Berra shouted, "That's it!" The ball rose in a majestic laser-like drive, rocketing into the night toward the farthest confines of Yankee Stadium. The question was never whether it was a home run or not. The question was whether this was going to be the first ball to be hit out of Yankee Stadium.

That it had the height and distance was obvious. But would it clear the façade, the decoration on the front side of the roof above the third deck in right-field? "I usually didn't care how far the ball went so long as it was a  home run. But this time I thought, 'This ball could go out of  Yankee Stadium!'"

Just as the ball was about to leave the park, it struck the façade mere inches from the top with such ferocity that it bounced all the way back to the infield. That it won the game was an afterthought. Mickey just missed making history. It was the closest a ball has ever come to going out of Yankee Stadium in a regular season game.**

Day 734.   So the famous Stadium facade blocks a huge home run, barely....   like the famous CBS limit facade blocks the huge home run that favorites are to users, barely.  The Stadium facade has become an icon...  but the facade of arbitrary limits is an eyesore.   The Stadium facade is built in to the new ballpark...   the limit facade won't be built into the new website, since the next iteration is due....        Any......    Day......       Now........!

Bede, The Venerable (673-735)

English scholar who wrote a history of the early centuries of Anglo-Saxon England and an encyclopedia which consisted largely of excerpts from Pliny the Elder. He noted that the equinox had slipped three days earlier than the traditional March 21, but the calendar remained the same until the institution of the Gregorian calendar in 1582 by Christoph Clavius. Bede was the first to date events from the birth of Christ.

Day 735.  The venerable around here have already noted the calendar for unlimiting favorites slipping, it seems, since the birth of Christ (at least, from the overheard swearing of the admins).  Perhaps some Gregorian chant would help.  (vene creatur sprititus...)

Cockpit error sent 737 into Pacific nose dive

TOKYO - A Japanese airline says one of its jets nose-dived and rolled almost upside down earlier this month because the co-pilot hit the wrong controls while trying to open the cockpit door so the captain could return from a restroom break.

Two flight attendants were slightly hurt and four passengers got airsick when the All Nippon Airways Boeing 737-700 with 117 people aboard descended sharply, veered off course and went belly up over the Pacific on its way from southern Japan to Tokyo.

ANA said Thursday that the co-pilot is believed to have mistakenly hit the rudder controls instead of the door lock to allow the pilot back in the cockpit.

Day 737.  6 days into year 3.   Pushing the wrong buttons, like limits on favorites, is dangerous and a result of not giving much thought to what you are doing.  A small but crucial act and bang - Going belly up.  Any.. Day.. Now..

Charlize Theron:No Sex for 737 Days

  By: Stacy Lee |  January 5, 2012

This story may be hard to believe but according to sexy actress Charlize Theron‘s close friend she’s been sexless for more than 2 years. According to this friend Charlize is very picky and doesn’t believe in one night stands.

I have a few questions, 1st does anyone believe this story? 2nd do you believe in one night stands? If so what actress or actor would you like to have a sexy one night stand with? Just curious
.
.
.

I have found the yin to CBS's yang.  Charlize Theron hasn't had sex in 737 days, while we are constantly getting screwed by the Admins.

Two years?!?!?!  Wow, that's a long time.  I'd say the story, at least generally, is true.  Kind of difficult to believe that kind of story would get out unless there was some truth to it.  Let's say it's "only" 14 months and there's some exaggeration at play.  That's still a long, long time.

That girl must go through the batteries!  lol

Can't say I believe in one night stands.  First of all, the fear of STDs, not to mention the lack of connection.  Plus, I don't drink as much as I used to and alcohol almost always plays a role in those kind of decisions, but let's be honest.  If the opportunity with some miracle guy presented itself, I'm sure I could be persuaded to bend my principals some. ha ha

Maybe she can give up abstinence for Lent.  Cool

738 Pound Bluefin Tuna Caught; World Record?

   By Sami K. Martin , March 7, 2012

Nathan Adams has a big fish tale to tell friends! The angler recently caught a 738-pound Pacific bluefin tuna off the coast of New Zealand, which may be a new record.

According to reports, Adams was fishing as part of a competition off Houhora, New Zealand. The competition was sponsored by the International Game Fish Association, which is still searching to see if Adams' catch is, in fact, a world record. If approved, it will claim the title of largest catch and bump off the current leader, a 716-pound Pacific tuna.

Day 738.   How does it get into those little cans?   This guy wasn't limited to a little sushi.  A week into year 3...  and so little news.

Any ...    Damn...   Day...     Now...
