The Pac-12 Thread....

It took a couple of games for our players to get used to seeing them and stop laughing long enough to play.

Really? so whats the excuse for losing to Stanford and Arizona State and Notre Dame(10) and washington and Oregon State

An interesting article on recruiting yesterday on how UCLA is number one in the nation in offering 2015 scholarships. It's an interesting stratagy.

Until Bruggman made a verbal WSU had to have led the nation in offering QB's and WR's then offering anyone who can play football on American Samoa and Hawaii.

If all that was to say that the Pac made them do it, then ya, you are correct. That rivalry game in Utah probably sells out within hours I'm sure, so no real financial gain for Utah.

Rookies are reporting to NFL camps, veterans are following. We're getting closer.

The fear of DUIs etc fade/morph into fear of injuries...again. We're almost there....

Hmmm, another commit. Jalen Ramsey, a Cornerback out of Tennesse at 6'0" 185 has announced his commitment to USC.
I don't have anything on his ranking yet. That's 15, USC has three slots left.(early starts)

Hey, Tennesse. Kiffin sends his regards...

Not sure of his ranking either, but word is that he is supposed to very good. Ironically, apparently his final choices came down to Tennessee and USC. Oh well, another reason for Vols fans to hate us!!

As the season approaches the trash talk seems to be picking up a bit across the threads. I'd guess it peaks just before the season starts as everybody is tied for first place.LOL

The Pac-12 is well set up as a conference to do very well in OOC games, bowl qualifications and by season's end, bowl wins. Overall the results should be better for the Pac than last season.

Add in the Pac-12 network and the increased exposure of games that are well worth watching that wouldn't be covered by the major networks and the future for the Pac-12 looks bright.

The average 80 million by ESPN for each Rose Bowl just kicked up those revenues as well. Now the extra revenues from the network and the Rose allows teams to upgrade facilities, recruiting gets easier for the Pac, especially out of state.

The gap will continue to close between the aspiring teams and the monster down in SoCal. While this will make life tougher for my guys, it will in the long run be good for the Pac-12.

The conference has very good managment, we have some outstanding coaching and excellent players.

The next few years looks to be a pleasant time for the Pac-12 and it's members......

Well the first football season of the Pac-12 network blows, so hopefully basketball it will be better.

And it's not all about facilities that will draw the recruits it's winning. The 3 winningest programs in the Pac-12 all have below standard facilities in SC, UW and UCLA. Oregon has the top facilities but Maryland is about the only other school in the country that has the ability to get that type of hands on design from a sporting company. Oregon became a winner first then they got the facilities.

Negative. Came down to SC and Vanderbilt. Vols were 7th in the running for his services. Came down to academics and SC has better academics than Vandy.

Really? C'mon. Both schools are known world wide for academics and to say that one has better academics than the other is like saying that my Mom is better than your Mom.

For what it's worth US News has Vandy ranked #17 in academics for the past year and USC #23. However, academic rankings are even worse than football rankings when you get down to the criteria agencies use to vote on.

Is anyone interested in some kind of "pool" ? Maybe a Pac-12 win-loss pool for each week? point spread?

It might be fun, don't think any money should be invovled, maybe a case of beer from each to the winner?

Any ideas or interest?

OK, I guess the rest of the Pac is whimping out. I'd have thought at least ED would want a piece of this. I guess maybe I've pushed the Trojans a bit too hard?

We need some fun loving pac people to step up.....

Kind of weird the no passing conference has more O'Brien "watch list" than the Pac-12 doesn't it? I love that Tuel is on there obviously, but he played less than Wynn and he has shown to be a good QB in the past. Can't remember his name, Scott I think for Zona is being talked about a late round pick in the NFL draft.
