The one stop, all Bruins thread!

June 3, 2012 5:27 pm

If any of you who haven't read it this is what TT put on his FB page.........

From the earliest age I can remember, I've wanted to be a hockey player. I've been blessed in my life to not only be able to live that dream, but to achieve more than I ever thought possible.

The singleminded focus that is necessary to accomplish a dream of this magnitude entails (by necessity) sacrifice in other areas and relationships in life. At the age of 38, I believe it is time to put my time and energies into those areas and relationships that I have neglected. That is why at this time I feel the most important thing I can do in my life is to reconnect with the three F's.

Friends, Family, and Faith.

This is what I plan on doing over the course of the next year. On top of this, I will continue to train using the ARP/POV system www.ultrafitevosport.com and work with G-Form www.g-form.com in the development of protective equipment.

What does this portend for the future?

We'll see….God's will be done. TT

If Thomas doesn't want to play hockey fine he has every right to do what he wants. The Bruins organization has treated TT very well and Thomas should retire not hurt the organization that has served him well.

I don't have much to say about it myself, just one of those wait and see drafts.

Not a bad idea to sign Rask for one year. I think both sides want a long term deal done but they needed to at least get one year done in order to have more time to negotiate a long term deal. I think they will have a deal done by the middle of January at the latest. I was getting worried because an offer sheet would have come in from another team as soon as free-agency opened.

I think it is a win win for everybody.
For Bruins, they get by another year with an easy cap hit on Rask.  They also get to try hi out all year to see how much they will spend.  If he is good, who cares if it costs more next year than if they signed him this year?

For Rask, he likely gets a bigger contract out of this - barring any unforeseen issues, like injury or like he really flops.  I doubt he flops, I think it is pretty much a given he gets signed to a big contract.

Rask is being a great team player, as he easily could look for his money right now.  Likely I suspect he and his agent had a frank conversation about his role and future with the Bruins.

Anyone think the Bruins will try and sign Evander Kane? I think he would fit in well with the Bruins, the kid is tough and does not back down from anyone. He also has some pretty good offensive skills. Or will thry go out and find another former Hab to bring in yet again?

I have heard nothing about Horton. Savard is playing and winning golf tournaments.

I heard something a few days ago but it wasnt specific. Brick was talking about Krejci and how that line will improve with Horton coming back. He also said that Coach Julien will have a tough job figuring out how to handle Horton. How much action can he take and how soon. It was pretty vague but it sounds like A. His career isn't done and B. He is expected to play this year. So that is good in my opinion.

PC expects Hamilton, Knight, and Spooner (all 3)  to challenge for spots on the roster this season. Should be interesting to see how things shake out. If this is what happens it will give Horton time to get healthy and make a return only when he is ready to play at full speed.

Horton was cleared for contact today and Coach Julien has a new multi year deal. Is it hockey time yet?

Jeez Timmy, shut up.

Good to see Horton making progress... I hope also Bergy is recovering from his ab injury.

Might be a good idea to extend Khudoben for a couple of years if PC can swing it.  We need some HOCKEY!

So how are you all holding up with the threat of a lock out looming? If that happens then Providence should be in good shape with Spooner, Knight and Hamilton playing there. I expect the season to be canceled again, thats just the feeling I get because they waited so long to start talking. They need to make a deal that is a life time deal. What ever they should come up with for an agreement is the way it should stay. No more of this lock out crap. I want hockey and the AHL is not what I want but I will go with that if need be.

I went to see the P-Bruins Friday night when they were in Manchester. Knight has not played the last 2 games. He is a -2 in the first 2 games. Spooner is tied for the lead in pts on the team. He has 4 pts in 4 games. 1g 3a . He scored the first goal Friday and Caron scored the next three and the P-Bruins got the first win of the season. They won again Saturday and are now 2-2 on the season. 0-2 with Hutch in goal and 2-0 with Svedburg in goal. CJ was at the game in Manchester sitting up in one of the boxes watching the game. I did see more dives on the part of the P-Bruins than I have ever seen from them and I was not impressed with it. Robins seems to be the tough guy on the team but he runs around at times just looking for a fight instead of playing the game and letting the fight take shape on its own.

Live in Providence so I hope to catch the P-Bruins a few times this year. How does the lockout impact the Thomas sitting out situation, if at all?

I went to watch the P-Bruins again over the weekend in Manchester. I was not impressed, it seemed like Svedburg was the only one playing. He stopped 16 shots before 3 NHL Stanley Cup winners combined for a goal. Too be fair, I was not all that impressed with Manchester either. Both teams were playing the middle game in a 3 games in 3 days stretch, and they played like it. I am going to NYC this weekend and I hope to visit the NHL store, maybe I will run into someone important and tell them what I think about the lock out.
