Too bad for Megatron that he never embraced "the process" last offseason.
Kinda going nuts here searching for Blackhawks rumors.............cant find a thing.......That front office is tighter than fort knox Maybe Leddy was going to be the only move to make, with him up, Stan is low on cap space anyway. Hawks had a good one last night. Crawford caught some breaks, but came up big on a few when the Hawks made they're bad mistakes. Earlier this year all those chances were in the net, things just balancing out I think. Colorado is not very good if they don't get much space, they aren't very difficult physically to matchup against, especially in their zone, they miss Stewart among others, but it was nice to see Chicago squash them and keep them down. Kane and Hossa are looking very good lately, and the Hawks haven't allowed more than 30 shots in the past 7, since they were slapped around against STL. The shots against is the thing I'm most excited about, they're finally starting to get the edge in shots most matchups, and they are definately playing much smarter with the puck and away from it. Bolland started skating better lately, and he's contributing offensively, but for the life of me, I don't understand how he hasn't improved in the faceoff circle, even against rookies and the other poor faceoff guys in the league. I don't expect him to win 50% against Sedin, Dats, or Thorton, but I expect at least 50% against the majority of centers if he's going to be in a defensive matchup specialist role. I don't recall another center in recent history that has gotten worse in the circle than they were 3 years previous at the age of 24. Anyway he's playing better, but he's still on the bad list in my book. Stalberg made so great defensive plays last night, and smart ones too, glad to see the offensive drought isn't rubbing off into other parts of his game. Colorado wasn't able to take advantage of Leddy's size, and Leddy's speed and decision making made the 2 forecheckers going after him look silly more than a couple times. This Leddy thing may work out yet, I hope so. Tougher challenges the next few games for him. Besides not giving me a Bettman robe and slippers for Christmas, that husky guy with the beard and red suit never gave me my Probert book either. Anybody read it yet? No excuse to go to the bookstore lately as I got Starbucks gift cards instead of ones for the book stores, I'm not much of a Starbucks drinker so I need to look into trading with somebody one of these months. Anyway, here's a little bit more from the Probert book here . Nice little bit about Probie and Crowder I'm sure Detroit fans recall. Here's an older one that was probably posted already. |

Nope haven't bough the Probert book. I have a hard time warranting paying 25 bucks for a book so I'm waiting til it comes down in price.......beer and bills take higher priority, mostly beer.Probie wouldn't want it any other way I'm sure. Wilson.......is he still there? Bust him and let him move on. Mike Brown may have missed Jovo's head (can't tell) but it looked like he sure wanted to catch his mellon on the follow through, so I like the suspension on his hit. He's from a suburb north of Chicago. I think he had a goal and a fight in his first NHL game. Played for U.S. as a Junior I believe too. Farve's sister, LT....good stuff. I hope Brett doesn't do any more commercials, I just want him to go away....really, I really want him to go away. Maybe that Rodgers win against the dirty birds will put the nail in the coffin for Favre's career. Maybe he can get in that sex offender video Slump posted. Nice weekend for the Hawks taking 3 of 4 pts and only letting Nash get 2. CHI still gave up 2 pp goals and 3 3rd period goals in the two games, so those problems remain. They did comeback tonight and showed who has more talent on the ice, so that's good. Leddy is fun to watch, but Nashville exposed him when they could last night, they really went after him and Hendry and got a goal and some scoring chances out of it. Those were two of the worst officiated games I've seen against the Hawks this year. I think the officiating evens out by the end of the year for the most part, so I think the Hawks paid their debt to the zebras from before, and got a little left over in the bank, hopefully they cash it in against Phi next weekend, or just give it to the Bears. Heard the Bears played today, did they win? Bears-Pack on the worst turf in the NFL, good stuff. The "fire and the passion" from the meatballs hollering all sorts of stupid stuff is going to make this a fun week. I'm gonna fortify my Kool-aid and join them. No worries about Brady and that coach of his anymore just in case the Bears (whom I would have taken the under on a 6.5 win season) get by the Pack. Hawks are off until Saturday , everybody will be just about caught up in games played. They have to take advantage of the 5 days off against that healthy Grand Rapids squad, and they need 3 of 4 points against PHI and Minn. How is Minn hanging around in the West anyway? Who didn't tell them their season was over? Then a few more days off, maybe they can spend time with the mental skills coach to learn how to kill a penalty, and how to stay focused in the 3rd. |

HA yeah I heard there was a Bears game on too..........The boys from up north looked pretty tough beatin the dirty birds. I have picked GB to win in the Jets to win in the Yahoo deal. However I am rooting for............DA BEARS!
Hmmmmmmm...........A couple players were shown the way to San Jose. Are the Sharks in panic mode? Are these moves going to get them over the line and in the playoffs? They claimed Kyle Wellwood from the Blues one day after they signed him to a one year deal (just like they lost Marek Savatos to the preds). Then they send a 2011 5th round pick to the Thrashers for Ben Eager. Eager was rumored to be headed back to the Blackhawks, Who I think have to make a move or two to play deep into the playoffs. Congrats to Jamie Langenbruner who got a GW in his 1,000 NHL game.......I thought that was pretty cool. Mercy no Blackhawks till Saturday..........I need to find that free hockey site again. Before my computer crashed for a 7th time I had a site where they had a game on each night. I didnt pull the trigger on NHL center ICE this year.......I saved up to buy a car instead. 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo........its rollin on 20s HA I B Pimpin. |

Hey blkhwkfan! I just want to say I love your kid Crawford between the pipes. He's a beast. I watched the Hawks and Flyers today. Tall order for your Hawks to have the Wings and Flyers back to back. Good game against us by the way. I wish Kopecky would have shown a hint of what he did yesterday while he was still wearing the Winged Wheel. What an outing. Talk to you soon my friend. Central Division FTW.

Cutler grew up and played high school ball 45 minutes from where I live. You either love him or hate him around here. No inbetweens. THey have a cool amusement park in Santa Claus, IN. All bs aside.
It's called Holiday World. Free soft drinks all day long and good wooden coasters. My kids like the water park. I guess it's a good place to people watch. Anyway bring on the Devils and hope Howard keeps it close. 2pts before the break as well as the confidence booster would be nice. |

That slob oprah announced she has a half sister she never knew before. Biggest news story of 2011 thus farOprah, you bringing Oprah up? You almost had feeling guilty for defending my buddy Gary all the time. Farve vid was hilarious. Hawks losses not hilarious. Seabrook taking another turd in defensive zone on easy play which set up Havlat for cheesy shot that beat Crawford, Hawks played tough in the first, but ran out of gas. Only 12 home games left and they're going to be scrappin all the way to the playoffs. I normally don't get to worked up about bad officiating, (I'll watch an AHL game to feel better about them) but the last 3 Hawk games were about the worst 3 consecutive officiated games for the Hawks I've seen since the Lyle Odelein Blackhawk era. Calls, whistles, and no calls exceptionally bad the last three games for both ways. Saw your post on officials Slump, was going to comment on how they don't have names anymore, but I should have known you would have had it covered before I even read it, good stuff, and nice call about the NHL's first Swedish official. More of those coming soon, can they be worse? Break has to be good for the Hawks blueliners, Q playing Seabrook and Keith too many minutes, and I hate what they've been doing with line changes in the 2nd, I can't get my finger on it exactly, but they're tweaking how they finish their changes imo, and it's setting up some nasty chances the wrong way. I felt more comfortable when they were more aggressive with changes even if it meant they would give up an odd man break the wrong way occasionally, they seemed to at least create better line matchups and sustained pressure. I think they're trying to shorten the shifts a little too much. We'll see after the break and the start of a 6 game road trip, maybe if they ride around in a limo without shirts again, they'll build that "chemistry, grit, and character (and all the other useless terms for crap that nobody can articulate well)" to go on a streak. Missing out on 9 pts in the month of January isn't good enough, it was their easiest month of the season, end of the fluffy schedule for this year. What's up with Boynton in the lineup, it was nice of him to put the Hawks shorthanded for his first game back from being a healthy scratch, Hendry in the lineup had the Hawks with a 6-2-1 record his last 9 starts, why was he scratched for Boynton, did I miss an injury or something? I'm not a big Hendry fan, but if they had been winning with him in there what gives? I guessing because he's bad, but I thought shutting Boynton down for a while is a good thing, and I don't miss the Cullimore experience part II. Leddy is going to be good, can't say that enough. Rocky Wirtz just hit my bad list for the week, it's political so you'll have to read up on it yourself. I'm not going to post it, but I'm going to blame him for the Hawks' troubles this week going into the break, so the story is convenient for me because I need to point fingers when I gripe even if it doesn't make any sense. Going to have to read the NHL rule book again or watch a few games in the dvr this week with no live games to watch after tonight, I don't like the break even thought the Hawks need it. There's always the Bulls....just kidding, I'll jump on the bandwagon if they make the finals that's about it. Maybe I'll burn Cutler jerseys with the rest of the meatball morons, hope they're careful with the lighter fluid. NFL, and all leagues should let all players tweet or chirp or whatever that garbage is 24/7 so fans can find out who the morons are. NFL players look like idiots bashing their own going into CBA negotiations, owners probably loved it. I'll be paying attention to those negotiations as both sides will hire the legal consultants from that negotiation for the NHL's battle next year. It'll be interesting. Time to burn a jersey. |

sorry bout the Cubs talk but it may be progress. Braden Looper pitched last season in Milwaukee and gave up carere highs in ER 113 and HR 39 while making 34 starts with a 14-7 record and a 5.22 ERA. Hmmmmmm........and he is gonna maybe pitch in Wrigley? |

Read over the Wirtz drama going on in Illinois and makes me glad Ilitch is mostly in the pizza business, lolLMAO. He lost quite a few buddies in the 300 section that work on those projects he helped shoot down funding for......unless beer and the rest of the sauce gets cheaper at the UC. No Seabrook trade, they'll lock him up for a number of years, contract negotiations in works for a few weeks, he's the only guy that can clear the net, he'll stay. I can't wait to read all the stupid rumors (okay I'll let myself buy into a bunch of them) that come out this week with no hockey to report on. Nothing like reading some of the more finely manicured B.S. about the trade deadline and possible deals, I've come to appreciate the imaginations of the writers/reporters/rumor creators, should be as fun as ever this year. Too bad more than half the franchises won't consider anybody in a trade signed past 2012 because of the CBA. Can't watch ASG, makes my head hurt. Yeah, NFL players morons, let them tweet, let them tweet. They'll be a good example of what not to do for the NHL players, I agree they'll split ranks and fold to the owners, too many idiots that want their paychecks. I won't mind 18 game schedule as long as the bump the roster to something like 57 players. That way some of the star players injured early may actually have a chance to play at the end of the year or in the playoffs. 53 man rule antiquated anyway, expand the roster and let the studs avoid IR a little more ofter without crippling a team with roster space. I'm shocked that you think the NFL players would be irresponsible with their paychecks Slump, I really thought you would have felt terrible for all the Travis Henrys out there. Your avatar almost made me look for some Zubaz with the logos for some early Christmas gifts, hey they were good enough for MJ here. Going back to just before the lockout, I was reminded of this on another post talking about the Sedin trade. Quality stuff from Foley, nightmares for Chicago for a few years. One of my favorite rants talking about a home player ever in sports. Pat Foley is a pretty cool guy, and from what I heard, he actually held back a ton from that rant. Time to read up on rumors. |

HAHA Yeah I know he isnt in the mold of what would typically play for Oakland but just stating that dude isnt as bad as most in Chicago say. Now does he have the heart.........thats what everyone is asking. All I know is that he needs to have some recievers who can run routs, some of what he was working with got a little better at the end of the season. Back to Oakland............Todd Marijuanavich was more of a Raider type HA. This next season and the NFL draft will be enteresting. I know Al didnt have a hand in what happen last year cause it was too good of a draft.
Here is a short list of WRs I would like the Raiders to look at 1.Sydney Rice 2.Malcom Floyd 3.Steve Breaston 4.James Jones. However with the funky way the contract of Nnamdi Asomughas contract was drawn, cornerback is most likely the biggest hole to fill. Besides they will want to get blue collar TE Zach Miller signed first. PCK Hey good to see ya man yeah things are begining to fall into place in my world............and the PBR is cold Big Ben needs more of this in that game that decides who the pro football champion is (Mercy I hate that Super Bowl cant be said when talking about the game) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xYVtma_Lvnw&feature=related Slump thanks for clearing that up on Looper, I just seen the signing and ran with it. I even didnt notice that they traded Gorzilony till late yesterday, good move there. That Garza deal will end up being a good move for them in the future. I believe that is what that move is, a set up for the future. I am just hoping Hendry can find a taker for Big Dope......er......Big Z (Hello southsiders). Bob I do agree with the Seabrook non-trade, I do kind of see the Hammer trade talk for the summer. I think Nick Leddy can quickly fill his spot, along with FA aquisition. I too like the obscure trade rumors, I think they should have a show just on those alone during the break. Ughhhh I hated Karpotsov!!!!! That was a great rant by Foley who I am glad is back in the booth for the Blackhawks. Besides bringing all 82 games to Hawks fans Foley was Rockeys best move. |

Agreed in terms of DHS, slump. It's absurd to consider this a security issue. And the best part - it was done by ICE. If someone can explain to me what this has to do with immigration or customs, I'd love to hear it.
But, that being said (and I know I'll get reamed for this, but oh well) - odds are this has nothing to do with Bettman. There has been an ongoing war agains streaming sites for some time now, and it's the broadcasters that are waging it. The people who have paid money for the exclusive broadcasting rights to these events are the ones who are having the hissy fits. In this case, the prime suspect is Rupert Murdoch. He's been at the forefront of the war on filesharing and streaming all along. His publishing empire is one of the first, if not the first major one, to require payment to read their freaking websites. HBO and Disney are also very big in this battle. But I mention Murdoch for a couple of reasons. One, he's a total tool with a long history of this kind of crap. Two, the fine folks in the government with too much time on their hands have stated that this latest batch was because of the upcoming Super Bowl. However, they screwed up. First, I am amazed that atdhe and channelsurfing were registered in this country. I had assumed they were registered overseas, because I am shocked it took them this long to go after them in light of their US registrations. But second, they did it too far in advance. The easy solution to this issue is to register your site elsewhere, somewhere that the US copyright squad can't get at so easily. They gave all the players involved here plenty of time to get their sites back up before sunday. atdhe.me or atdhenet.tv channelsurf.eu (note: channelsurf now, not channelsurfing) Enjoy. :) |

But, that being said (and I know I'll get reamed for this, but oh well) - odds are this has nothing to do with Bettmanha, not by me lol, thanks for beating me to big Gar's defence. Knew about newscorp and Disney, (sn't HBO still Time Warner?) and Time Warner who's been going after this stuff too. CBS in on it too? and what about the guys that own MTV (not that I care about MTV, I just like knowing who to blame so I can whine and not do anything about it)? How about Comcast? Seems like all the news about them has only been about the purchase and fcc/jd. Two, the fine folks in the government with too much time on their hands have stated that this latest batch was because of the upcoming Super Bowl. That would make the most sense. DHS........not gonna do it....not gonna do it.......not gonna do it.........whew didn't do it, back to hockey. Blackhawks had a goofy one last night, Erhoff and Luongo playing too many cards to get the zebras to make a call for them early in the year, that will come back around in the postseason, but good for them for trying. I thought Brouwer had a great game last night, too bad the zebras screwed up the thing. Still, even game going into the third and the Hawks couldn't get it done, I didn't think there was much to gripe about other than some of the penalty calls/no calls similar to every match, so I'll give the Canucks credit for hanging in there. Getting tough for the Hawks, I thought they've been the better team on the ice for so many contests now where they didn't get a point, they're going to have to make up for it taking 38-42 of their last 60 to get into the post season. Getting dicey, fortunately, I think they have enough skill and experience to climb above most of the contenders in the West and shouldn't need too much help to get in. They will need help on the PK or circle come the deadline if they are serious. Word is Haviland is coaching the PK again, Pk was turning around until last night, and go figure 0 for 5 with the advantage. Kitchen is starting to be a concern of mine, everything else is falling into place as far as how last year's guys are supposed to play and the new guys fitting into roles. I like how the Hawks have been playing overall though, much more physical and they're getting loose pucks to the point it's more than offsetting the disadvantages of being average or worse in the circle. I wonder if Stan is going to able to make a move work or not, I like Leddy, but his cap hit is too big if Stan is going to be able to upgrade for a deep shut down d-man or another center that can actually win a faceoff 50% of the time. We'll see. Posted the vids of Versteeg rapping on the Toronto thread after I found this one here when I was checking out some prospects that had been to some camps. He's not a prospect for anybody, I don't know how I came across his name, but his talents will obviously take him places other than the ice in the NHL. Nasty stretch for the Hawks continues next week, 4 games in 6 days. Calgary is next, nobody gave them or the Coyotes the memo that their seasons were supposed to be over by now, hope they roll over for the Hawks. I'm going to watch the SB, I just hope it's a good one, after Los Osos lost 2 weeks ago, I kinda lost interest, and no money on it. Maybe I can catch a nipple because the commercials get more lame every year. When's the lingerie bowl on? |

Slump tell your boys to stop it! this is the Blackhawks year for injuries. Your Red Wings have had a gruling work load. Saturday should be interesting
BOB! how about these two guys for the Blackhawks................Peter Kaleta and Steve Montador? Kaleta has 2 years at 907K and Montador is a UFA at seasons end (1.2m) |

Saturday should be interestingYeah, I've never actually watched a GR game in Detroit, should be cool. I would love Montador, but I think Montador is more expensive than 1.2, I'll check cap geek, 1.2 is a number that could work though. I sure Buffalo would love some of Chicago's 3 2nd round picks next year. As far as Kaleta goes, I doubt he could stay healthy for 2 weeks let alone stay effective for a whole playoff series, if he was a little cheaper I think he would be worth the risk, I also want to see Stan limit risky contracts for next year as the Hawks will still have plenty to do with repsect to the cap and keeping Seabrook around. Another guy I wouldn't mind is Paul Mara, he's only 750K and was a guy I was hoping Stan was going to sign last offseason as he was hanging around for a while. I just responded to Kidd's poll about ANA d-men and just commented on him. Mara is no end-all answer and will drive us crazy with some bad play, but he would be an upgrade from Boynton or Cullimore imo, and he's faster and a little better with the puck and is a monster out there. Plenty of downside, but like I said, I like him better than Boynton or Cullimore, and he only would cost a little more. With so many teams in the playoff hunt with capspace available, I think there will be too many buyers for the 3rd and 4th line depth players from the limited number of teams willing to sell off their depth signed for good value. Fortunately if Scotty and Stan see somebody they must have, they can outbid with draft picks and prospects compared to many teams. |
