Too much rain today to throw, but I have been having problems w/ the heavier new discs.   I bought them ($10 bucks each, no matter the type) because they are among the higher rated discs for distance and glide, but they may take a stronger throw than I'm able to do to get the maximum fly out of them.  I've gotten to the point where I can often hit a metal pole from around 35 yards and in, and sometimes from farther out.  It's fun.
KOY, I think I told you before that back in the day, a friend and I got into buying the black Pro series frisbies. They were big and heavy and you definitely had to put more effort into getting them up to speed and usually resulting in less control. But when you threw one of those just right, we could stand about 65-75 yards apart at the park across the street from my house which had a baseball/almost full size football field and play catch almost without moving. But if you got the least llittle wobble, then all bets were off on where they were going. I liked throwing those discus style to get a little more velocity and spin but if you tilted your hand at all you were as likely to throw it 10 yards as 60. But it is a great feeling when you can curve one and land it almost exactly on your target.

I didn't enjoy the game much.  KY won with little suspense but my wife is a huge KY fan and she usually watches the LOUSIVILLE games with me so she gets mad when I put in the earbuds and ignore the so I have to watch close enough that when she complains about a play and asks if I saw it, I can answer intelligently enough to pretend I was interested. And I don't dare tell her I'm really rooting for whoever KY is playing so the game is only interesting to me when it;s close enough that KY might actually lose. But that's a small price to pay as opposed to the half you pay for a divorce.

You Must Be Evil          -           Chris Rea

"The Road To Hell"

I come home from work
I see my little girl
She's crying on the floor
She's been watching that TV
This ain't late no
This ain't even dinner time
To show them things on that screen
What's wrong with you
You must be evil

Oh I know why you do it
You're just looking for sensation
You got a hold of something
You tell us that it's news
You don't have to show that stuff
Can't you show us some respect
You can tell us we don't need to see it
We don't need those cheap effects
You must be evil

You must be evil
I wish you were here

You don't have to show that stuff
You ain't fooling no one
You made my little girl cry
I wish you were here

We all know why you do it
Sometimes you even slow it down
You giving out some bad ideas here
I can't believe that you don't realise
You must be evil

One of my all-time favorite live albums. Townes is masterful on stage; only he could get away with telling such an awful joke as this:

A drunk is stumbling around on the street and approaches 2 police officers.

"Officers, help me, someone stole my car!"

One officer asks, "Where was your car, sir?"

"Right on the end of this key!"

"Well," the officer says, "You'll have to go down to the precinct and make an official report and sign a statement . . . first, though, would you please zip up your fly?"

The drunk looks down at his crotch and exclaims "Oh, Hell, they got my girl, too!"

Honestly, falling between two of my favorite songs, it didn't make enough of an impression on me to give an opinion I'm comfortable with. I know I listened to it but thinking back 30 minutes I really don't rememebr it and don't think I have heard it before. Hope that was helpfulWink!

Good morning WAYLT!!!

I have listened a couple times now to the new Van Halen record, and I am absolutely stunned. If any one record is a PSA for cleaning up your act this would be it-Eddie Van Halen sounds like an artist that has come back to life. His musical chemistry with Alex on drums is so evident-and Wolfie has obviously worked is arse off and become an outstanding bass player. David Lee Roth. while he has lost some of his upper register, more than makes up for it by sounding inspired and bringing some serious attitude to these songs. I swear I felt like a teenager again last night driving around listening to this record. One more personal note-it;s a shame my Dad didn't live long enough to hear this album, because I can just hear him screaming "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" at the beginning of a face melter like "She's The Woman". I have some very vivid memories of being 12 or 13 years old and my Dad blasting "Hot For Teacher" on vinyl-we used to just go crazy when that song came on.

Rock, I think my strong reaction to it is as personal as it is the fact that it's a great record. I can't tell you how many times in 28 years I've wondered and pined and hoped VH would team with Roth again. I tried to keep my expectations low, because it's hard to match music that first hits you at age 13-that mark is a deep one. It might speak even more to the album's greatness that considering the circumstances te album needed to be killer to make an impression, and it most certanily has. It's one of those records musically that has so many cool little things jam-packed into it that it will require multiple listens to truly sink my proverbial teeth into all of it.

"2 Nigs United For West Compton" - Prince
This tune is an instrumental that appeared on the "Black Album"(not the actual title, rather a title put on it by fans because of the all black cover-very Spinal Tap, eh?), a collection of songs that Prince shelved in favor of 1987's Lovesexy. Prince explained that the songs on Black Album were the work of the devil and therefore chose to release Lovesexy, an album of significantly greater optimism. Black Album to this day remains one of Prince's most interesting collections and one of my favorites-dare I say maybe he should allow the devil to work through him more often? Foot in mouth

"Reqiuem In D Minor" - Mozart

"Peacoat" - Stone Temple Pilots

"Someone Saved My Life Tonight" - Elton John

This is great stuff LD,  I think I might actually be a year or 2 older than your Dad would be, but I'm certain he and I would have enjoyed the same shows.  I have the same feelings about certain groups I grew up with (Jeff Beck is just one) where I draw some personal satisfaction from the group or artists perseverance and continued excellence in the face of a changing musical landscape, not to mention old age.  Van Halen was not one of those for me, but I have always recognized Eddie's unique and groundbreaking talent and style.  There songs have not always stayed with me, but the sound of eddie's guitar is unmistakable.  I like the new record thru the first couple of listens, Tattoo is a solid opener, and yeah, She's The Woman shows Eddie doing things noone else can.  Thanks for your thoughts, that was a fun read.

Koy, thanks so much. Your post means alot to me-and I agree- you and Dad would have loved alot of the same tunes. You and I do also!

Just dropped by to tell you that, no music for me right now. I just watched "The Union" again, the documentary about the Elton John/Leon Russell collaboration. I can't recommend it highly enough-watching Elton save Leon's life is truly touching.

Have a great night Koy-and thanks again my friend.
