Lyrics like that were sort of a fad back then, supposed to be trippy, I guess. 

That's a great idea for Shatner - he does have some albums out.  One of these days i'll listen to his recent album, Seeking Major Tom, which includes his cover of "She Blinded Me With Science"...  One of the great things about Shatner is that he can spoof on himself.  Genius!
