the reason Heat fans say this is because this is what happened. we are offering in his defense. and the reason there is no debate over it, is because it really isnt a debatable point. Lebron honored his contract and left. fans were hurt. the media felt they were scorned. i know this is purely speculative, but i bet you had the lebron said "i am taking my talents to the big apple" the media heat on him would have been FAR FAR FAR less than it was. again, no way to prove this, just my feeling. it felt to me that alot of ESPN anchors/other national media wanted him in new york.I complete amazed at how those who defend with the argument still don't understand why it doesn't make sense. You might as well offer as a defense, "The moon is round, so I don't know why people are upset with Lebron leaving." That statement is just as much relevant to why the people were upset with Lebron leaving as your defense, but someon you think your statement is some obvious explanation of what happened. Let me explain to you what is wrong with your statement:

When you're a superstar and you know that you're going to leave, then yeah, his plan from the start was to play with superstars and I don't think Bosh ever seriously thought of going to Cleveland. I don't think LeBron ever considered NY and Amare, it was the Big 3 in Miami the whole time. He never wanted to play team ball, he wanted to play superstar ball. Regardless of what happened in Cleveland he was going to go to Miami, why do you think he quit on the Cavs.

From the start? When's the start? Draft night? Did he call up Bosh and Wade in HS to plan this all out? Please do explain... I don't think LeBron ever considered NY and Amare, it was the Big 3 in Miami the whole time. He never wanted to play team ball, he wanted to play superstar ball. Even if so, there's nothing that says he can't do that if he plays out his contract which he did. It worked too. He just led his team to a title with an all-time great postseason. Regardless of what happened in Cleveland he was going to go to Miami, why do you think he quit on the Cavs. If 43/19/10 in the last game you play for a team is going out a quitter let me have 12 quitters on my team. |

e-of-the-king/ There are 2 sides to every story. Regardless of anyones opinion or perception, you can't change the past. While perhaps James was focusing on the positives of a charity getting millions of dollars as his reason to do the show , in hindsite he admits he wouldn't do it again. The TV show in itself was harmless because Cavs fans would have been equally pissed no matter how he left. This just became the excuse. James has been in Miami for 2 years now and has been nothing but a positive asset for the Heat both on and off the court, while at the same time still giving back to his hometown of Akron and participating in programs that benefit kids all over the country. If everyone who walked planet earth were as good a person, as good of a role model as James has always been, then the world would be a much better place. |

I complete amazed at how those who defend with the argument still don't understand why it doesn't make sense. That statement is just as much relevant to why the people were upset with Lebron leaving as your defense, but someon you think your statement is some obvious explanation of what happened. Let me explain to you what is wrong with your statement:the argument makes sense. the reason you dont like it is it points out how stupid it is for fans to be upset. the man honored his contract and left. people are upset over how he left. nobody said we dont know why they are upset. fans will always get upset when the franchise player signs with someone else. it really didnt matter how he did it... fans would be upset. the moon being round has no bearing on LeBron James as an individual, and your analogy is stupid. they are upset becaue they felt a stronger sense of loyalty to him and the cavs then he did to the them and the cavs. we get it. but at the end of the day, all this media scorn, all this fan outrage is over him leaving. he had no contract with the team. all he did was chose to work in miami and win title(s) with his friends over cleveland. no it's not. that is in no way what we are trying to imply and please dont tell me what my intent is. I am telling you what happened. Lebron honored his contract and then left. that is factual. undebatable. fans got upset because fans are emotional and in large part dont react on logic.
again, that isnt what we are saying... that is your own twisted spinning of it. no one is saying they are mad that he honored his contract and left. they are just mad the franchise player left. they woud be made if he forced his way out via trade (see orlando fans right now). no one is saying what you seem to be arguing. your arguing with yourself over something that only you believe is being said. your like an old man at a retirement home arguing with the voices in his head. fans hate lebron for leaving. they hate the decision. they hate the miami party a few days later. yea, we get it. but to hate someone so intensely as some of you do (especially LA fans which is just absurd they care this much)....but what did lebron really do to deserve this hate? he honored a contract, and then chose to live in miami and win titles with his friends over staying in a second rate organization like cleveland. yes he went about it in a stupid way. get over it. he was 25. the worse thing he did to deserve all this hate resulted in a mulitmillion dollar donation to charity. everybody needs to take a step back and get their priorities straight. lebron isnt the bad guy, he was just stupid at 25. there are bad guys in sports... lebron isnt even close to one of them. |

the moon being round has no bearing on LeBron James as an individual, and your analogy is stupid Indeed. Some say the moon is hollow and rings like a bell when hit by a meteor; others say it's actually a giant spaceship (dark side of the moon theorists included). Either way, its still a bad analogy. yes he went about it in a stupid way. get over it. he was 25 Now he's 27, but the moon is billions of years old. The analogy just doesn't hold up. |

"In Columbus, Rob Oller writes it "would be easier to applaud" the donation to charity "if it did not smack of attention deflection, using a charity to run interference just so folks don't think Bron-Bron is too-too big for his britches" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 7/8)
FANHOUSE.com's Kevin Blackistone wrote under the header, "Free-Agent Circus Stains LeBron's Image." James over the past few weeks has "made himself as easy to dislike as he'd made himself over several years easy to like." He has "made it look as if everything in it is about him, and he is unnecessarily turning himself into a villain" (FANHOUSE.com, 7/7). In San Jose, Cam Inman writes "catering to superstars is the norm," but when one of the NBA's top free agents "gets an hourlong, prime-time television special to announce his next employer/partner/beneficiary, that simply is absurd/individualistic/grossly enabling" (SAN JOSE MERCURY-NEWS, 7/8). SI's Jack McCallum writes James, "drunk on the magnificence of his own LeBron-ness, is utterly clueless of how ridiculous this whole process has been, the monumental amount of self-importance attached to scheduling a one-hour show when you have zero championship rings" (SI.com, 7/8). In Akron, Marla Ridenour writes that LRMR obtained sponsorship for tonight's announcement on ESPN, with all proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, "seems self-serving." In promoting James' cause, his representatives have "flexed their marketing muscle in James-sized fashion" (AKRON BEACON JOURNAL, 7/8). In Columbus, Rob Oller writes it "would be easier to applaud" the donation to charity "if it did not smack of attention deflection, using a charity to run interference just so folks don't think Bron-Bron is too-too big for his britches" (COLUMBUS DISPATCH, 7/8). " BLAH BLAH BLAH. It's hilarious to see all those "reporters" cry about The Decision when they are part of the feeding frenzy that created it. They are the ones sticking microphones into the mugt of anyone who might have any clue what James was thinking or doing at any moment. They were the ones circling around him house, trying to gleam knowledge based on who is coming and going. They are the ones checking flight records for teams bringing execs in to Cleveland to meet with James. It's RIDICULOUS for all of these people who hung on every movement of LeBron James to suddenly be surprised that there was some BACKLASH to that. "WHAT? The ego and self-importance of the person who we are obsessing over is growing? What a jerk!" When we treat stars and athletes like GODS are we surprised when THEY start to think they are? Get a clue, people. we all have a part in that mess that was "The Decision". I tuned in for any bit of info on where James might be going to play and so did almost every person on this site. |

"on whether you're a TRUE Heat fan that stuck it out through the bad times, or a team jumping bandwagoner who sold out his old team when the going got tough."
Just stop with this silly crap. Your Lakers watched attendance drop by several thousand a game in the years between Magic and Kobe. The vast majority of NBA fans aren't fans of specific teams. They cheer for players and the teams those players play for. I grew up in the 80's and EVERYONE was either a Lakers fan or a Celtics fan or you were unfortunate enough to live in a city with an NBA team that wasn't one of those two teams. I grew up in the Kansas City area and my dad pointed at Larry Bird's game as how the game should be played. Now I cheer for Miami to do well mostly because people have acted like such morons in regards to their current players and some because James is a great player and is fun to watch. That is the same reason that tons of people cheered for Chicago to have success when Jordan was there. It was fun to see basketball played so well. Does that make me a "bandwagon" fan? I suppose so, but I couldn't care less about what supposed "true fans" of teams care about who cheers for who. Many people simply aren't diehard NBA fans. If you are, congrats to you. It was fun to follow Miami this year. I was very interested to see if James especially could overcome all the ignorance and hatred and ridiculous comments and achieve is goals. I love to watch athletes overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. To say that James was anything less than GREAT in the playoffs is flat out dumb. I tip my hat to him for being consistently the best player on the floor. He was not only fantastic, but he did what was needed for his TEAM to have success. Durant was fantastic offensively in the finals as well, but did not do the things necessary for his TEAM to win. Poor rebounding, terrible defense, bad fouls. James was great in every aspect of the game. "that's as it SHOULD be. DO continue your lip bungee from LeChoke's genitals, though. it's entertaining stuff..." You can make all the homophobic comments you want about my admiration of James' play this year, but it doesn't change anything, other than your perceived IQ. The juvenile attempts to argue by making up a silly LeSomething name or implying homosexual actions or interests is simply weak. When children don't get what they want, they throw tantrums and call people names. That is what you have resorted to; sitting on the ground kicking and screaming and calling people names because you didn't get the satisfaction of watching James and Miami lose. Go find your binky and your blankie, crawl in your crib and take a good, long nap through the offseason. Maybe things will be better when you wake up from your time out. |

It is not collusion for players to state that they would like to play on the same team together some day. They did not get together and say "Let's all get together and play for Team X". That would be collusion and that would have been impossible, since none of the teams involved even had the salary cap space needed to sign all three players before the July 1 start of free agency. Sorry, but even NBA Commissioner David Stern doesn't think it was tampering. You have your opinion on the matter, but I'll go with the opinion of the guy who has a vested interest in making sure that the rules were followed correctly. NBA Commissioner David Stern dismissed owners' concerns about tampering and collusion at Monday's meeting, "What we told the owners was that the three players are totally, as our system has evolved, within their rights to talk to each other." |

"ok, so the idiot tweets,"
Every person on the PLANET makes stupid statements that are heard or read by other members of the public. We are doing the same right now. Posting silly crap on twitter is IMMORAL? Yikes. "the bad sportsmanship, " Again, IMMORAL to not shake hands after a tough loss? A bit dramatic, don't you think? Thousands of athletes walk off the field of play every day without shaking hands with their opponents after the game. Are MLB baseball players IMMORAL because they don't line up after a game and shake hands? Why not? "the quitting on his team. " You mean the triple double in his last game for Cleveland? NONE of those count. TOO funny. the scumbag flops on camera and winks at the crowd when he gets refs to buy that he was fouled. Every player that flops to draw a foul in the NBA is a SCUMBAG? Again, you are going to be left with no teams to cheer for when all is said and done. Like it or not, it's part of the game because refs have allowed it. Your Lakers have some of the biggest floppers in the game today. Kobe is the king of the flop and has never missed a shot in his life that wasn't the result of being fouled, according to hiis behavior on the court. Does that make HIM immoral? No, but being an adulterer and a likely rapist does. THAT is my definition of immoral. All of the off-court issues for Andrew Bynum? THAT is my definition of immoral. this punk's GARBAGE. but keep on giving him that pass. have a great time... It's just comical how much EXTRA people put into all these meaningless things. Show me ONE user of Twitter than hasn't posting something dumb. Twitter is designed so that people who think they are more important than they really are can share worthless tidbits and for people who think that having instant "access" to famous people somehow makes them closer to those people. Like they "know" them because they follow them on freaking Twitter. I wouldn't know the details of any dumb posts to Twitter by james since I obviously think Twitter is a retarded waste of time and don't use it. As I said, who freaking cares if players get together at the end of a game and shake hands. Why are basketball players held to a different standard than other sports? Baseball doesn't do it at all. Football sort of does it. Hockey does it more than any other sport. WHO CARES? It's just looking for something to whine about. When my daughter get sout of the pool, she doesn't go and shake hands with all of the kids she swam against. She'll high five friends that were in the race with her or say "Good race" to the kids around her, but there is no organized activity to it. SO WHAT? You have yet to explain some type of happening that shows anyone that James is immoral or a scumbag. Having an ego isn't immoral or many of us would be screwed. You seem to be confident in your opinions, meaning you have a personal ego. Does that make you immoral or a scumbag? No, obviously not. |
